storage awards lg

No matter what happens in any end of the industry, until someone develops an affordable teleportation device, we need solid solutions to store and transport tools to and from the jobsite. Several new options caught our attention this year and are winners in the 2016 Pro Tool Innovation Storage Awards category.

Winner – Tool Bags

Husky 12 in. Tool Bar BagHusky 12″ Tool Bar Bag

What they said: Husky leads the industry in storage innovation with the 12 in. Tool Bar Bag that includes the new professional grade pouch system. The reinforced stitching design provides optimal craftsmanship and stability for the toughest jobs. This bag is built for strength and durability with a sturdy, 600 Denier water-resistant material, non-twisting D-ring straps and rotating steel handles with padded grips. The bag features three interior pockets and eight exterior pockets perfect for efficient tool organization, no matter the shape and size. The tool bar feature allows users to clip a variety of pouches onto the bag for added storage and towing capabilities. It also includes two tape measure clips that connect seamlessly onto the tool belt as well as bit tip storage compartments for excess stowing.

What we say: Husky is stepping up their game across several areas of the storage sector with the features and quality professionals demand. The Husky 12” Tool Bar Bag uses 600 Denier material that’s water resistant and tough. In fact, it’s tough enough that several other Pro brands turn to it for their bags. This 12″ Tool Bar Bag also features pockets that can be removed and taken with you. That means your tools stay organized, and you only bring what you need. The 11 pockets and a pair of tape measure clips offer organization along with a rigid bar that additional pouches can be clipped to. At $39, it’s a storage option tough enough for Pros at a price well within reach of weekend warriors.

Winner – Rolling Portable Storage

Husky 15 Gallon Cantilever Mobile CartHusky 15 Gallon Cantilever Mobile Cart

What they said: Husky’s new mobile cart is a convenient toolbox and organizer that is ideal for housing vital project equipment. The cart can securely hold up to 15 gallons of materials, making it a great fit for larger-sized power tools and accessories. Beyond featuring a bevy of central bins, the cart’s unique design includes fold-out part organizers for additional storage and visibility. This arrangement makes it easier for users to quickly locate the item they need without having to dig through other equipment. Husky has equipped the large-capacity cart with cantilever technology for easier opening and immediate access to needed gear.

What we say: Husky is joining the ranks of well-known professional brands to provide storage solutions that are usefully innovative. The upcoming Cantilever Mobile Cart offers smaller stacking storage bins that fold out to reveal a large capacity storage area for larger tools. The extended handle and wheeled base also make it easy to move around the jobsite. Finally, a 15-gallon capacity allows you to carry the tools and accessories you need for the day in one package.

Winner – Rolling Chests & Cabinets

Milwaukee 60" Mobile Work StationMilwaukee 60″ Mobile Work Station

What they said: The 60” Mobile Work Station features a 22” multi-position metal peg wall, which provides a convenient place to store frequently used items. With an additional 11 drawers that include 100lb soft close slides and a center drawer with a moveable divider, the Work Station can support a weight capacity of 2,200 lbs. Every inch of the space is maximized with features such as a multi-position utility shelf that can be mounted at different heights on the side of the work station for convenient storage of bulk items, a quick-access tool holder that provides easy access to longer tools like screwdrivers and ratchets, and a one inch thick reversible hardwood top. A power tool organizer helps keep tools upright and a built-in power center provides instant access to power.

What we say: We heard that Pro Tool Reviews nearly had to clear their shop for a gladiator-style death match to see who would be left standing and get to review this model. The Milwaukee 60” Mobile Work Station is one of the best designed and best built rolling chests. It has a winning combination of drawer storage, metal peg board storage, and open work space. There are 11 total drawers which offer a 2200-pound capacity for storage. The drawer slides feature the same Milwaukee smooth soft close design as their 46” chest and cabinet. If you’re looking for an affordable storage solution that’s also functional as a work space, Milwaukee’s Mobile Work Station should be at the top of your list.

Winner – Tool Rigs

OX Tools Framer's 4-Piece Tool RigOX Tools Framer’s 4-Piece Tool Rig

What they said: Durability, ample storage and ease of access are key features that framers look for when choosing a tool rig, and the OX Tools 4-Piece Framer’s Rig delivers on all these, and more.

Made from Top Grade Leather, it is oil tanned with special oils & waxes applied during the tanning process to give the leather a very soft and supple feel that is resistant to water and other elements making it a great combination of softness and rugged durability.

Pouches are secured with heavy-duty rivets that have a low profile to reduce chance of scratching surfaces. Double stitching and belt tunnel reinforcements are designed to withstand the vigorous conditions of the jobsite.

With 22 pockets there is plenty of room for nails and necessary tools. The Fastener Bag serves as the primarily nail bag with a slot between the two front pouches for a layout square. Plus, it features a pencil/marker pouch and a scabbard for a claw bar.

The Tool Bag has inner pockets for hand tools as well as a pencil/marker pouch and includes a tape measure clip for quick access. And, the dedicated hammer holder offers flexibility in placement for quick muscle-memory retrieval.

What we say: Ox Tools continues to move into the North American Pro market with compelling products. Their 4-Piece Framer’s Rig starts with soft, supple leather—the classic material and look that many Pros prefer. The 22 pockets give you a variety of storage options for smaller tools while the classic hammer holder, tape clip, and layout square slot give you dedicated storage for specific tools. Ox Tools has put together a stylish, durable tool rig that most Pros will be glad to own and use daily.
