2022 Accessories Awards

Tools may lessen the effort it takes to get the job done, but without accessories, a tool isn’t going to do much. Accessories serve as the point of contact where work actually gets done. As we’ve all likely experienced, poor accessories can give you sub-par results, no matter how great a tool you’re using. Professionals deserve the very best accessories that give them the best results. These award-winning accessories push the envelope when it comes to speed, life, or simply doing what others in their class can’t. The following are the 2026 Pro Tool Innovation Awards winners for our Accessories division.

WINNER – Clamping

Rockler Woodworking & Hardware Clamp-It Corner Clamping Jig

What they said:

You can’t be in four places at once when assembling large cases and cabinets, but you won’t have to be if you use Clamp-It Corner Clamping Jigs for these big jobs. Each jig consists of two clamping bases attached to a Clamp-It Assembly Square, which holds them at a right angle. When positioned on a work surface, the jigs let you stand pairs of panels on edge and clamp each corner together at the bottom, so you can focus your attention on one corner at a time. Once they’re cinched tight, the 90° design of these jigs ensures that your panels remain vertical and squarely in register, ready for additional top clamping, driving fasteners, or waiting for glue joints to dry.

For holding the top corners of your assembly together, we recommend our easy-to-install Clamp-It Clips (#58225 or #58849, sold separately). Or for more secure clamping, combine Clamp-It Assembly Squares with our dedicated Clamp-it Trigger Clamps or Power Jaw Clamps (#75311 or #63965, both sold separately).

What we say:

Rockler’s Clamp-It Corner Clamping Jig is a practical and very flexible cabinet-assembly fixture designed for holding casework at a true 90° while you fasten, glue, and/or drill. We love the fact that you can use the integrated clamps to hold your cabinetry at the base, or use a variety of other accessories to create custom clamping solutions for just about any application. Integrated cushions on the clamp pads help ensure you don’t mar your work surface. The jig also features a 3/4-inch work-surface offset, which makes it easier to support other corners using scrap stock. Or, you can use the mounting holes to turn it into a repeatable assembly station. A good woodworking accessory should either be simple or flexible enough to adapt to a variety of situations. This is both.

WINNER – Metal Drill Bits

Drill America nACo (Nano-Composite) Blue Coated Annular Cutters (ANC Line)

What they said:

The Drill America nACo (Nano-Composite) Blue Coated Annular Cutter (ANC Line) sets a new performance benchmark for magnetic drill press tooling by incorporating advanced nano-composite coating technology onto premium M2 High Speed Steel.

Traditional HSS annular cutters frequently experience high heat generation and premature micro-abrasion when drilling tough alloys. The key innovation of the ANC Line is its micro-thin nACo nano-composite blue surface coating, specifically engineered for extreme thermal stability and wear resistance. This coating delivers a 30% (or greater) increase in tool life compared to standard uncoated HSS cutters.

What we say:

The Drill America ANC line is built for magnetic drill press work that demands clean, repeatable holes in tough metals like stainless steel, structural steel, cast iron, and even heat-treated steel. This cutter is available in a variety of sizes and uses high-speed steel with a nano-composite blue coating, a 3/4-inch Weldon shank, and a pilot pin. The coating is designed to reduce heat and friction while drilling. The claimed 30% improvement over uncoated cutters would be a most welcome improvement in cutting technology. That would mean less wear on the cutting edges, giving you significantly more cutting life. A precision-ground geometry also promotes burr-free drilling, making it a practical choice for fabrication and any application requiring a clean, large-diameter hole in thick metal.

WINNER – Wood Drill Bits

Commander Tool CFB-160000 16-pc Forstner Bit Set

What they said:

The Commander Cutlass Forstner Drill Bit represents a significant advancement over conventional Forstner bits through its combination of material science and cutting geometry. Unlike many standard bits that are machined from tool steel, the Commander Cutlass is manufactured from a hot-forged steel alloy blend. The forging process aligns and densifies the steel’s grain structure, resulting in a tougher, more durable cutting tool that better retains its temper, hardness, and sharpness throughout its service life. This allows the bit to maintain cutting performance longer, reducing downtime for sharpening and replacement.

Its innovation extends beyond metallurgy. The Commander Cutlass features a proprietary cutting geometry engineered to optimize chip evacuation and reduce friction during drilling. Efficient chip removal prevents clogging, minimizes heat buildup, and allows users to maintain higher feed rates without sacrificing hole quality. Reduced friction also lowers cutting resistance, resulting in smoother operation, less strain on the drill, and improved control for the user.

What we say:

The Commander Tool CFB-160000 earns recognition for pairing a 16-piece size range with forged-steel construction aimed at longer cutting life and steadier cutting performance. The unique angle and geometry of the cutting edge are unlike anything we’ve seen before, and it delivers clean, flat-bottomed holes with less heat buildup and chip packing. This should give makers and manufacturers better results in cabinetry, furniture making, and general woodworking. Its broad imperial-and-metric coverage supports both precision shop work and hardware installation tasks, while the wooden storage box adds beauty alongside practical durability and bit organization. Together, the materials, cutting geometry, and size selection make this an impressive and capable, work-ready Forstner bit set.

WINNER – Drilling

Eagle Tool US, LLC Dirt Auger X Flex and Extension

What they said:

The ETD75054XE is the Eagle Tool US X Flex Dirt Auger Bit and Extension Kit, a 3-piece heavy-duty earth-drilling kit designed to run cables, wires, and pipes under sidewalks, driveways, and through tough soil conditions. It works with a standard power drill, helping eliminate the need for costly directional drilling, and is used by many leading cable companies.

The Pro Series X Flex shanks include a notch that helps prevent the drill bit from slipping out of the extension. The extension features an internal hex, allowing it to extend standard cable bits with a 3-flat shank or any 1/4-inch hex quick-change power tool accessory.

What we say:

Whether it’s landscape lighting, running a fiber line, or adding sprinklers, you eventually need to bore under concrete or pavers. The Eagle Tool US ETD75054XE pairs a 3/4-inch X Flex dirt auger bit with a 36-inch extension, giving installers a longer reach for boring under sidewalks, driveways, and other tight-access areas. Its spring-steel flex shank and notched 3-flat grip are designed to stay engaged with the drill and help reduce slip during use. We also like that Eagle Tool includes a handy 1/4-inch hex extension to make these bits compatible with impact drivers that use a hex chuck/collet. Built for cable, wire, and pipe runs in hard soil, it offers a practical alternative to more expensive or labor-intensive solutions.

WINNER – Driver Bits

Makita U.S.A. Impact XPS Mag Boost

What they said:

Impact-rated power bits are preferred by many contractors as they are longer and often stronger than standard insert bits. They can also be used without a bit holder and offer better reach into tight spaces. But a drawback of power bits can be the limited or non-existent magnetic tip for holding screws at the end of the bit. The Impact XPS® Mag Boost offers a complete solution for power bit users, making their power bits highly magnetic for improved performance and convenience.

The Impact XPS Mag Boost (E-01345) is a sleeve with 2 rare earth magnets for increased holding power and up to 10 times more magnetic strength than standard power bits. It has a compact and universal fit design that allows for use with most common power bits: Mag Boost slides onto a power bit, and the powerful magnetic strength is engineered to hold screws on the end of the power bit for added convenience and extended reach into tight spaces.

What we say:

Everyone has experienced dropping screws while on a ladder, under a sink, or in some other awkward position. The Makita Impact XPS Mag Boost solves this very real jobsite problem with a simple accessory. The XPS Mag Boost slides right over most 2-inch bits and turns them into a magnetic bit holder. The design is simple: a compact sleeve houses two rare-earth magnets. That’s about it. Makita says it delivers up to 10 times more magnetic strength than standard power bits. That should keep bit-drops to a minimum. We like the universal fit and how easily it slides right over your existing bit in less than one second.

WINNER – Dust Collection

Milwaukee Tool AIR-TIP™ Bucket Topper Dust Collector

What they said:

Milwaukee Tool is expanding their line of AIR-TIP™ Trade Focused Vacuum Accessories with five new solutions, each designed with a specific job in mind – from extended reach, tight access, debris agitation, dust control, and specialty applications, ensuring all cleanup needs are met. Fully compatible with Milwaukee® and other wet/dry vacuum brands with 1-1/4″, 1-7/8″, and 2-1/2″ hose diameters, each attachment offers a purpose‑built advantage for jobsite cleanup challenges. Engineered to clip securely on a standard 5-gallon bucket, the AIR-TIP™ Bucket Topper Dust Collector delivers improved dust containment. Designed to capture dust plumes, this solution supports cleaner jobsites and reduced user exposure during pouring and mixing applications. While attached to a 5-gallon bucket, the crescent-shaped design provides space for efficient mixing, making this a practical solution for tasks involving joint compound, concrete, or tile mixing.

What we say:

When the judges first saw this tool, they wondered how it took so long for anyone to come up with it. If you’ve ever mixed thinset, grout, or concrete, the Milwaukee AIR-TIP Bucket Topper Dust Collector is going to rid you of the expected “dust plume” that naturally accompanies emptying a bag of material into a 5-0gallon bucket. The accessory clamps easily into the top of a standard 5-gallon bucket and, when connected to a standard shop vac, contains dust plumes at the source. Additionally, the curved opening gives you space for mixing and accessing materials without missing a beat. Since it uses the AIR-TIP system, it’s fully compatible with 1-1/4″, 1-7/8″, and 2-1/2″ diameter hoses.

The DEWALT 102″ Track Saw Guide Rail is designed to support large cabinet, furniture, decking, and sheet-good cutting applications by providing extended coverage for clean, controlled cuts. Its 102″ length is ideal for handling larger projects such as custom tables, countertops, tall cabinets, closet panels, bookcases, built-ins, cabinet fillers, and edge trimming on small to medium decks.

What we say:

The difficulty with most track rail is that you rarely have enough of it. DeWalt gives you a full 102 inches to use with its plunge track saw. This gives pro users enough reach to tackle large-format cabinets (think 96-inch pantries), countertops, closet runs, and anything involving full sheet goods. Unlike most rail systems, this particular accessory doesn’t “piece together” from smaller components. You get a single large rail to use with your projects, giving you stability and a long, clean cutting edge. It’s perfect for the workshop or production facility.

WINNER – Caulk/Sealants

DAP Global Inc. KWIK SEAL® Color Change Siliconized Waterproof Sealant

What they said:

DAP® Kwik Seal® Color Change Siliconized Waterproof Sealant introduces the first-ever water-ready indicator for kitchen-and-bath sealing. Powered by proven DryDex® Technology, the sealant applies pink and turns white to provide a clear visual cue that it is ready for water exposure. This simple but meaningful innovation replaces guesswork with confidence that users can see.

Determining when a sealant is ready for water traditionally depends on following written instructions, tracking elapsed time, and accounting for environmental conditions. Exposing the bead too soon can compromise the finished seal, while waiting longer than necessary delays the use of the completed space. Kwik Seal Color Change makes readiness intuitive: when the pink bead turns white—typically in approximately 12 hours, depending on joint depth, temperature, and humidity—the sealant is water-ready.

For professionals, the visual indicator supports confident project handoff and provides an easy way to communicate readiness to customers, helping reduce uncertainty and avoid callbacks associated with premature water exposure. For DIYers, it removes an intimidating judgment call and provides visible confirmation that the project is ready for the next step.

What we say:

Anything that increases productivity is a win in our book, and DAP’s KWIK SEAL Color Change Siliconized Waterproof Sealant deserves recognition for turning an otherwise uncertain step in kitchen-and-bath sealing into a highly visible process. We love that when you apply the bead, it’s pink but turns white when it is water-ready. KWIK SEAL is also paint-ready in just two hours and features a technology that’s low-odor and water-soluble for easy cleanup. Put down this sealant, and anyone coming after you will know whether or not it’s ready for the next phase.

The optimized thread pitch delivers holding strength and speed, while a T-STAR plus drive provides superior bit engagement and reduced cam-out, even when fastening at challenging angles.

New PowerLags XF also feature a large-diameter pancake head that’s been redesigned with a 30% lower profile than our standard PowerLags. That ensures a clean and flush finish with the exceptional clamping force SPAX is known for today.

What we say:

We couldn’t help but recognize this U.S.A.-made SPAX PowerLags XF structural fastener. They use a 4CUT point to eliminate pre-drilling and reduce splitting. Upper ribs lower the required torque on longer drives, so you’ll get more runtime from your cordless installation tools. An available low-profile pancake head also allows for flush results while still providing excellent clamping force. Finally, the fasteners are ICC-ES evaluated for IRC/IBC structural wood use. SO whether you’re using them in treated lumber or for fastening ledgers, decks, pergolas, or timber material, you’ll be sure to make a long-lasting connection.

WINNER – Spray Foam & Insulation

DAP Global Inc. Black Insulating Foam with Widespray Applicator

What they said:

DAP® Black Insulating Foam with Widespray Applicator closes the gap between localized bead-applied foams and larger, more involved spray-foam systems. This high-performance, one-component polyurethane foam delivers broad-area sealing, insulation, and sound dampening from a convenient 20-ounce aerosol can, making it especially practical for smaller projects and touch-ups.

Its central innovation is a patent-pending adjustable widespray applicator. By rotating the nozzle, users can select a horizontal or vertical spray pattern and orient the coverage to the surface being treated. The aerosol format arrives ready to use, without the equipment, component mixing, or ratio management associated with two-component systems. When properly cleaned after use, the applicator can be reused with the remaining product.

The foam expands up to three times its applied thickness: a 1/2-inch layer expands to approximately 1-1/2 inches. For air-sealing and thermal-insulation applications, a single properly applied layer may be sufficient. Its greater-than-80% closed-cell content provides an R-value of 4.1 per inch, while Class A fire resistance supports demanding building applications. The foam bonds to most woods, masonry, metals, and drywall and can be applied in ambient temperatures ranging from 45°F to 120°F. It becomes tack-free in 7–12 minutes, can be trimmed in 45 minutes, and fully cures in 24 hours under normal conditions.

What we say:

Ease-of-use matters when dealing with foam applicators—especially for smaller jobs. DAP combines one-component polyurethane foam with a patent-pending adjustable widespray applicator to deliver a broad, controlled spray pattern. DAP’s Black Insulating Foam expands to about three times its applied thickness and delivers an impressive R-value of 4.1 per inch. It’s also Class A fire-resistant, bonds to wood and (most) metal, and is designed for use from 45°F to 120°F. Lastly, the color blends well into exposed indoor and outdoor spaces.
