The 9th annual 2021 Pro Tool Innovation Awards saw the largest number of submissions by far. Innovative products came in from dozens of tool brands across the country. 2020 proved to be a tough year for businesses. It proved, however, to be a boon for innovation and the construction industry as a whole. Manufacturers continued to advance new technologies and products. We saw the introduction of new battery platforms, higher-capacity power supplies, and tools breaking new ground. New tools provided power and performance well beyond even their corded counterparts, and run-time levels increased with newer higher-capacity batteries.

The 2021 Pro Tool Innovation Awards bring some encouragement to an industry reeling from lockdowns and sky-high material costs. Advancements in driver bit and blade technology continue to advance tool accessories to places they’ve never gone before. We continue to see longer-lasting saw blades, better-performing drill bits, and advanced fastening solutions. These reduce costs, save time, and increase efficiency on the jobsite.

This year, the 2021 PTIA Awards showed us new power tools, hand tools, accessories, and pneumatic tools that brought brand-new features to the industry. We saw a large number of trade-related innovations specifically geared towards electricians, plumbers, and air-mechanical professionals. The stiff competition really challenged our judging team this year. We’re confident these new products should help contractors, tradesmen, and business owners make significant productivity gains in the coming year. This may have been a tough year, but it brought a whole lot of innovative tools and technologies that should help tradesmen and businesses do more than ever before.
